The Stuart L. Bernath Book Prize ($2,500)
Awarded annually to the author of the best first book in the field.

Robert H. Ferrell Book Prize ($2,500)
Awarded annually to the best book, beyond the author’s first book, in the field.

The Arthur S. Link-Warren F. Kuehl Prize for Documentary Editing ($1,000)
Awarded biannually (odd years) to a collection of primary source materials published during
the preceding two calendar years.
Deadline for nominations (of books published in 2015 and 2016): February 1, 2017.

The Stuart L. Bernath Scholarly Article Prize ($1,000)
Awarded annually to the author of the best published article in the field.

The Betty M. Unterberger Dissertation Prize ($1,000)
Awarded biannually (in odd years) to the author of the best dissertation in the field.
Deadline (for dissertations completed in 2015 or 2016): February 28, 2017

The Myrna F. Bernath Book Award ($2,500)
Awarded biannually (even years) to the author of the best book written by a woman.
Deadline for submission (of books published in 2016 or 2017): February 1, 2018

The Oxford University Press USA Dissertation Prize in International History ($1,000)
Awarded biannually (in even years) to the best dissertation by a rising historian who has completed a research project defined as international history.

The Norman and Laura Graebner Award ($2,000)
Awarded biannually (even years) to recognize the lifetime achievements of a senior historian of U.S. foreign relations

SHAFR FELLOWSHIPS & GRANTS SUMMARY

SHAFR Dissertation Completion Fellowships ($25,000): Two, year-long awards, in the amount of $25,000 each, to support the writing and completion of the doctoral dissertation in the academic year of the fellowship.
